Monday – Friday: Old Miami Comes Alive!

Travel back to when Miami was just a dream along the Miami River. Experience the original Tequesta tribe, explorers like Ponce de Leon searching for the Fountain of Youth, and later the birth of a bustling city. Our party kicks off at the iconic Roney Plaza Hotel – in the 1930s owner and operator of the legendary Key Largo Anglers Club (“The Florida Year-Round Club”), where guests flew in on gyrocopters! Be transported back to Roney’s Imperial Room, and Bamboo Room, where history whispered through the walls.

And don’t miss Al Capone’s Gentlemen’s Club – a secret speakeasy! Al Capone himself spent winters in Miami, working out at Roney’s gym and dining in style while living on Miami’s Palm Island. Feel the thrill of Miami’s golden age, from WWII-era Pan Am Clippers soaring overhead from Coconut Grove’s Dinner Key to tales of daring German U-boats lurking offshore.

Saturday: Modern Miami Takes Center Stage!

Hold on tight as we rocket into the vibrant, Latin-infused Miami of the post-1970s! The Cuban Revolution transformed the city overnight, bringing fiery culture, spicy food, and stories of espionage and intrigue. Miami became a hotbed of CIA plots such as the Bay of Pigs invasion, Operation JMWAVE at the University of Miami, and the infamous Cuban Missile Crisis. This was also the dawn of the drug trade and the backdrop for the iconic TV show Miami Vice. Salsa beats, neon lights, and Cuban cafecitos fuel this unforgettable day!

Sunday: A Soulful Sunday with Rev. William E. Stanton

After all the excitement, it’s time to pause, reflect, and recharge. We honor Rev. William E. Stanton, Linda Buermann's great, great-grandfather, and Miami’s first Baptist minister and spiritual pioneer. Preaching from a tent by the Miami River in the 1890s, he laid the foundation for downtown Miami’s Central Baptist Church and is the namesake of Stanton Memorial Baptist Church. Sunday is “Rev. William Stanton’s Day of Revival and Repentance for All Sinners” – a day of heartfelt community, forgiveness of sins, and spiritual revival.

From ancient tribes to speakeasies, spy games to soulful worship, Moon Over Miami is your ticket to the city’s wild ride through time. So, grab your sunglasses, your dancing shoes, and your sense of adventure – it’s time to celebrate Miami, the “Magic City”, like never before!
