“heat, hustle & history”

moon over miami

Travel back to when Miami was just a dream along the Miami River. From the earliest days through the golden age, join us through Friday as we celebrate the vibrant history of Old Miami from 1513 to around 1970 — in true vintage style!

Dinner at the iconic Roney Plaza Hotel, once owners of the Key Largo Anglers Club (then called the “Florida Year-Round Club”), where 1930s guests arrived by gyrocopter! Enjoy an unforgettable meal in The Imperial Room (a transformed Coral Room) and The Bamboo Room (a transformed Commodore’s Grill).

Our theme, Moon Over Miami, comes from the dazzling 1941 film starring Betty Grable — a tribute to the city’s glamorous, star-studded era.

Step back into the roaring ‘20s at Al Capone’s Gentlemen’s Club — a speakeasy transformation of KLAC’s historic bar. Capone himself wintered nearby, dined at The Roney Plaza, and worked out in its gym. He even used his Miami mansion as an alibi for the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, and upon release from Alcatraz Penitentiary, he died there. We’ll also honor the WWII years, when Miami’s skies saw Pan Am Clippers soar from Dinner Key and German U-boats torpedoed ships just offshore.

Get ready for an immersive throwback to a time of elegance, intrigue, and tropical charm — Old Miami like you’ve never experienced it before!

“MODERN MIAMI: From Calle Ocho Beats to Vice City Dreams”

moon over miami

We’re fast-forwarding to post-1970 Miami when the Latin influence took hold — where pastel suits, powerboats, and Latin beats take the spotlight! Miami-Vice style meets real-life drama.

The Cuban Revolution reshaped the city, bringing waves of vibrant culture and a rich Latin influence. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Miami became a hotbed of Cold War intrigue — with the U.S. launching secret missions from what became the largest CIA base in the world, located at the University of Miami.

As more people arrived from Central and South America, the city’s story grew wilder, edgier, and more iconic — inspiring the crime-fueled, neon-drenched world of Miami Vice.

“Rev. William Stanton’s Day of Revival & Repentance

moon over miami

After all the excitement, it’s time to pause, reflect, and recharge. We honor Rev. William E. Stanton, Linda Buermann's great, great-grandfather, and Miami’s first Baptist minister and spiritual pioneer. Preaching from a tent by the Miami River in the 1890s, he laid the foundation for downtown Miami’s Central Baptist Church and is the namesake of Stanton Memorial Baptist Church.

Sunday is “Rev. William Stanton’s Day of Revival and Repentance for All Sinners” – a day of heartfelt community, forgiveness of sins, and spiritual revival.
